:: HISTORY - FURWA

Furwa was founded by Mr. Armin Wiblishauser at the beginning of 1974. Mr. Wiblishauser derives from a family who has been in the woodworking business for generations. After having studied woodworking technology he worked for different companies before he became the technical director of the family-owned bedroom furniture company "WIWA". He knew exactly the technical demands for veneer edges when he invented veneer edges in continuous rolls!

1972

Industrial produced veneer edges in continuous rolls do not exist yet.

1973

Mr. Wiblishauser starts to develop veneer edges in continuous rolls.

1974

FURWA is founded, and the production of reconstituted veneer edges starts.

1976

The series production of veneer edges starts.

1977

23.12. - Furwa GmbH is founded.

1978

30.05. - FURWA GmbH is incorporated.

1979

FURWA moves to its present location.

1984

Mr. Wiblishauser establishes the company PWG together with his brothers and starts to impregnate fleece, i.e., to precoat fleece with PVAc adhesive for the veneer laminating process.

1984

Installation of the first lacquering plant for veneer rolls.

1984

Production is expanded, and a new veneer warehouse is built.

1993

First Jointventure with a Czech company for the production of semi-finished goods (veneer master rolls).

1993

The production area is doubled due to the construction of a new building.

1994

FURWA develops the electronic veneer grading, quality management and cost management in cooperation with a partner.

1994

A new production line for thick veneer edges is put into operation.

1995

An electronic colour control system for veneers is put into operation which is integrated in the veneer grading system.

1998

The first UV lacquering plant is put into operation.

1999

A lacquering plant for hydro lacquer is put into operation.

2000

Installation of a paternoster shelf system for storing veneer master rolls. Capacity: 110,000 sqm, and each single roll directly accessible.

2001

 

Development of a new fleece lamination for the use in automotive industry (now, even wavy and undefinably shaped veneer sheets can be laminated in such a way that they meet the requirements of the automotive industry) resistant to boiling water and long-term UV resistant.

2002

 

The series production for the automotive industry is established (veneer processing for the production of dashboards, steering wheels, ashtray lids, etc.)

2003

Fully washable veneers are introduced at the show „Interzum“.

2004

A new UV lacquering unit is put into operation which is especially designed for highly flexible lacquerings in the field of profile wrapping, softforming and door rebates.
Series production start of cell phone cases in real veneer by means of plastic rear injection moulding.
