Quality Assurance Information System of Rolls
In the course of continuous quality improvement and quality assurance, Furwa has
introduced a new labelling system for all veneer rolls in their core.
On the inside of each roll you will find a label covering all the necessary information:
| 14.08.09 |

901835 |

1. Date of production, when the roll was slit (final inspection).
2. Staff ID of the staff member who slits and inspects the roll.
3. Order number, identical with the order confirmation
4. Master roll number, all edges made out of one and the same master roll bear the
same number. If a master roll is slit into shorter edge rolls, a supplementary definition
is added; e.g.: 197-1 197-2
Each role and its individual production steps can subsequently be backtracked in our
company by means of this method.
Our customers benefit from this system as all edges which were slit up from the same master roll
can easily be found again, because they have an identical labelling. As a rule, the verification by
means of date and master roll number is sufficient.
There is no production which is a 100% perfect; however, faults and defects, which arise in an
edge while processing, can be limited by sorting out all other edges made out of the same master
roll.
It is assumed that an existing fault or defect only refers to one single master roll, and thus
other edges (different labelling/different master roll) are safe to use.
This means that if a fault or defect is found in a single veneer edge roll while processing, and
be it only an undesired veneer colour, all other edges of the same master roll are identifiable
and can be sorted out and verified.
We are making constant efforts that neither we, nor our customers will ever have to make
use of the information system of rolls.
